We bought some plants yesterday, and removed the rocks that were in the way. Then, we bought more plants today, including an apple tree we didn’t have a chance to plant yet which is going elsewhere.
We spent 4 hours or so digging and planting and mulching. Can’t wait for all of them to grow to their potential. We already had a huge bumblebee come for a visit, so we named it “the bumble garden.”
Can’t wait for June - we’re getting a delivery of 25 perennials for our “butterfly garden”. All plants will be native and pollinators.
I’m officially old.

Looks great, well done.
There’s something quite pleasing about a yard project that turns out great.

I like this a lot

That looks nice. I’ve got two dead ash trees that I have to deal with. I’m holding out hope for one, as it isn’t brittle and was a late bloomer last year. The other one is a definite goner.

I’ll take them off your hands :). Always looking for some wood to burn in my fire pit :)

Coming from someone who’s always critiquing properties, I’m pretty happy to hear that :)

Beautiful. Glad you have kept with native plants mostly. That evergreen will give you some nice shade one day too.

This section, we just went for pollinators, but not all native. The evergreens will get huge in a decade or three.
The other garden is all native. Our local water authority has a deal with resource garden and they had some discounts to buy “plant by the number garden in a box”. 25 native pollinators for $113. Couldn’t pass up.

Awesome! We’re waiting for our day lilies to be delivered. Welcome to old age.

We went to bed at 8:03pm
We got one day lily as well. We had a few of them in our front yard in Denver and I always liked the look. Have fun planting!

This is the kind of cool project when you shower after and then have to take a beer outside and admire your work. Nicely done!

Thanks!
We had a bottle of vinho Verde with dinner and just walked over and looked at it. I can’t wait for everything to bloom.

This is what we’re getting in a month for the other garden. All native, all pollinators. We’re super excited for it.
